• Pittsburgh wedding DJs Greentree DoubletreeIn late December I posted the current top ten wedding requests from my Pittsburgh wedding DJs music library. This post will feature the top ten “trending songs” as of February 1, 2017.

    What is a “trending” song?

The “Trending” chart highlights songs that are trending at live events all across the country. These songs may not yet have enough requests to rank prominently on the Top 200. Unlike the Top 200 that is based on a full 12 months of data, the Trending chart is fluid and can change quickly. It’s ranked not by quantity of requests, but by the intensity at which songs are trending.

    Here’s the current list.

    1. Justin Timberlake – Can’t Stop The Feeling!
    2. Chainsmokers – Closer
    3. Calvin Harris – This Is What You Came For
    4. Sia – Cheap Thrills
    5. Drake – One Dance
    6. Pitbull – Timber
    7. R. Kelly – Ignition
    8. Backstreet Boys – I Want It That Way
    9. Blackstreet – No Diggity
    10. Montell Jordan – This Is How We Do It

As you can see, several of these songs are current pop hits. However, some of the songs are over ten years old! The bottom line is that “trending” music doesn’t necessarily have to be new.

One other point. Just because these songs are trending nationally, doesn’t mean they are hot in the Pittsburgh wedding reception market. For example, while the Backstreet Boys “Everybody” gets a great response at my receptions, “I Want It That Way” seems to only get a lukewarm response.

I find it best to use this list to stimulate your thought process about music and artists that you would like to hear at your reception. Use the list as a resource, not as a definitive guide.
