Pittsburgh Wedding DJ – A Unique Bridal Dance

by Tracy Painter on August 17, 2015

As part of my Pittsburgh wedding DJ service, I have a meeting with every couple four to six week prior their wedding day. We discuss music, songs they want to hear and songs that will be on the no-play list. We go over a time line for their event. And we talk about the special events they want to have during their reception. One of the biggest questions couple seem to struggle with is whether or not to have a bridal dance.

This video highlights one couple’s unique twist on the bridal dance.

This couple wanted a dance to get all of their guests up to participate. Amanda, the bride, didn’t want something that was going to be too long. Both the bride and the groom wanted something that would involve the tradition of each guest doing a shot when they danced with the bride. Amanda mentioned that maybe we could set something up with a “train” theme. And that’s the origin of Amanda and Chris’ unique bridal dance!

The Pittsburgh wedding DJs at Entertainment Tonite promise to work with you to create your unique event. We will help you set up a reception timeline, a music playlist and give you suggestions to help make your reception run just the way you want it to run.

On the night of you reception we want you to relax and enjoy yourself. We will make sure everything happens, just the way you planned! If this sounds like the type of DJ service you’re looking for, I encourage you to contact me via email or phone (412-672-4899).

Pittsburgh Wedding DJs – First Dance Song Choices

by Tracy Painter on August 10, 2015

Pittsburgh wedding DJs Stratigos first danceIt’s just a couple of weeks before the wedding and you still haven’t selected your first dance song! It may be a stressful situation, but rest assured you are not alone. Every year several couples that work with my Pittsburgh wedding DJs find themselves it this very situation. Hopefully the article and the list I am about to share will give you just the inspiration you need to select the perfect first dance song.

I really like the suggestions in this article from Bridal Guide, “Tips for Picking a First Dance Song”. Below I will list the four key points.

  1. Find A Common Musical Interest
  2. Look For Lyrics That Speak To Your Relationship Together
  3. Pick a Beat You Can Dance To
  4. Don’t Be Afraid To Be Unconventional

Now if the tips didn’t help you out, perhaps the current list top ten list of first dance songs from my on line music playlist will give you some inspiration.

  1. John Legend – All Of Me
  2. Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud
  3. Christina Perri – A Thousand Years
  4. Lee Brice – I Don’t Dance
  5. Jason Mraz – I Won’t Give Up
  6. Ray Lamontagne – You Are The Best Thing
  7. Brad Paisley – Then
  8. Etta James – At Last
  9. Elvis Presley – Can’t Help Falling In Love
  10. Lonestar – Amazed

OK, that’s my current top ten first dance songs. Did you find one that you liked? Hopefully the list or the article at least provided a starting point for you.

I will address all aspects of music selection with you during our pre-wedding day consultation. Every couple that uses my Pittsburgh wedding DJ service is entitled to at least one consultation. Not only will we discuss first dance music, we go over music selections for all of the important moments of your reception.

The Average Pittsburgh Wedding Costs How Much?

by Tracy Painter on August 3, 2015

Pittsburgh wedding photographer city weddinf shotI’m sure many of you have seen the recent wedding survey from the Knot stating that the average wedding costs $31,213. Quite frankly, that’s a BIG number! It’s also misleading! Here’s just one reason why; the average is going to be skewed higher by couples having extremely lavish affairs (think Hollywood weddings).

A much better resource for more accurate wedding costs can be found at CostOf Wedding.com. The link I provided takes you directly to the Allegheny County Weddings page.

Couples that live in or travel to Allegheny, PA (County) spend between $19,977 and $33,295 on average for their wedding. However, most couples spend less than $10,000.

In fact, according to Cost of Wedding, 84% of all couples holding weddings in Allegheny County will spend less than $30,000.

In addition to that type of basic pricing information, Cost of Wedding will give you an average price for all different types of wedding services. For example, currently the average cost of a Pittsburgh wedding DJ is between $594 – $990. You can expect to pay between $1,188 – $1,584+ for a well-experienced professional.

The best piece of wedding budgeting advice that I can give you is to prioritize what items are most important to you and spend accordingly. Maybe catering and disc jockey service are your most important items. If so, allocate more of your resources to those items by hiring well-experienced professionals and use less of your resources by utilizing more basic floral services for example.

Eight Tips For Dealing With Wedding Vendors

by Tracy Painter on July 27, 2015

Pittsburgh wedding DJ at the Willow RoomThis week I want to share an interesting article I found on Bustle. The article was written by Emma Lord and it deals with stress and wedding planning . The eight tips Lord shares provide solid advice. Below are the tips and a few ideas from me.

  1. Budget out everything before you even start looking at vendors.
  2. Don’t even talk to vendors until you have a definite location and date.
  3. Narrow down your vendor options on Yelp before making appointments.
  4. Don’t make too many appointments with vendors who offer the same service.
  5. It’s never too early in advance to start looking.
  6. Come in with pictures, and be as specific about what you want as possible.
  7. Limit the number of opinions you ask for.
  8. Accept that something is going to go wrong.

Overall, pretty solid advice! However, I do want to focus on point three and make an alternate suggestion.

I absolutely think that couples planning their wedding should consult review sites. At least in the Pittsburgh market, the review site that couples should become most familiar with is Wedding Wire. While there are reviews about my Pittsburgh wedding DJ service on many sites, most of my reviews are on Wedding Wire. This is true for a large majority of the wedding vendors in the Pittsburgh area.

Another useful planning tip is, when possible, use one professional vendor for multiple wedding services.

Many of the couples that work with us (Entertainment Tonite and Curt’s Photography) comment that using one vendor (in our case a second generation family business) has made their planning process so much easier. Also by combining wedding services  under one roof, the couples have saved money! We offer DJ, lighting, photography, videography and photo booth services. Contact me today for more information.
